In the front yard of the new house is a simple
child's playhouse. It has a ramp to climb up to a roofed-over platform where
you can sit or stand (an adult has to stoop over), and move around.
In this half-open "room", you can pretend you are in a fort or on a boat, etc.
I have thought of bringing a chair and sitting and reading. And next to the ramp
is a slide to go back down to the ground. |
|
One always sees the playhouse when one comes and goes from the
house, at the bottom of the front yard that slopes down
from the driveway, near the street that goes in front of the house. |
|
I like the playhouse, even though I've visited it only a couple times.
I'm not sure how much longer it will last, since the roof now seems in need
of repair (we had the "legs" it stands on replaced soon after we moved into the house,
because they
were rotted; we did this along with some repairs to the real house). |
|
I think of the playhouse as a kind of "shrine" (Shinto? Buddhist?).
Originally, the circle" around its base was covered neatly with wood chips, which
reminded me of a Japanese "dry garden", but now that is overgrown and the
"circle" is almost undiscernible. |

Maybe
the playhouse is a home to the spirit of dwelling. |
