In World War II, the man who led the destruction the major cities of Japan, General Curtis Lemay, said that if Japan won the war, he expected to be tried as a war criminal. It looks hopeless: Mr. Zelensky refuses to declare a cease-fire to stop the slaughter of his fighting men (and, obviously, also Russians), and your administration remains adamant in supporting Mr. Zelensky's patriot act in order to overthrow Dr. Putin's government. In 2000, Russia wanted to join NATO. But the U.S. was not interested. Russia wanted to be our friend, until President Bush unilaterally declared in 2008 that Ukraine would be NATO. And then Russia protested, but again, we were not interested. We intensified the threat to Russia in 2014 with the overthrow of the Yanukovych government and its replacement with an virulently anti-Russian regime in Kiev. Again, Russia protested, including defensively retaking Crimea which Mr. Khrushchev had given to the Ukraine SSR in 1953. Yet again we were not interested. Up thru December 2021, Russia kept asking us to negotiate peaceful neutrality for Ukraine, but we were still not interested. Columbia Univ. You have made an enemy out of a country that could have been our friend, including in the coming competition with China. October 13 last year, I reported an error on your website. The error is still there. On the "Contact Us" form, in the "WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE TO SAY?" Text entry box, the user can enter over 2,000 charcters. Enter 2,005 characters. Try to send the message. Result: "THERE WAS AN ERROR PROCESSING YOUR SUBMISSION." This is wrong. There was no error. The form allows entry of more than 2,000 characters but makes this complaint if more than 2,000 characters are entered. I reduced my message to 1,999 charcters and I got the following reply: "THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUBMISSION!". So presumably my message was sent. There is another issue. I have no idea what you received. Maybe 50% of hte time I get an email back saying "Thank you for contacting the Biden-Harris Administration...." That was the case this time. Maybe half the time I get no email back, so I have no indication if anything was received. I have OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder) disability. When I do something, I wonder if I did it. I check 5 times to make sure I locked the door on leaving the house and still am unsure I locked the door. You need to (1) Always send the message-was-received email, but also: (2) The message needs to echo back the verbatim text what was received. You can see how this is done by submitting a User Comment to an article on The New York Times website. If they accept your comment (this is no big deal, it's just public message forums) --> If the message got printed they send back an email with the verbatim text they printed. Surely the Executive Branch of the U.S. Federal government can do as well as a newspaper? I keep a record of what I try to send and see I made a typographical error.
