Let's hope the use of these ATACMS missiles will be limited to the Kursk region. There may be people who want to use them to destroy strategic targets deeper in Russia. But escalation always triggers counter-escalation and increases the risk of a larger European land war and nuclear weapons. Let's urge the Russians and the Kiev regime to ceasefire and start negotiations with us to bring this tragedy to an end. The peace plan facilitated by then Israeli PM Naftali Bennett which was tentatively signed in April 2022 should be the starting point. Territory is negotiable. The one thing the Russians require is demilitarization. NATO in Ukraine is seen by the Russians as an existential threat, like Soviet missiles in Cuba were for us (the U.S.) in 1962. They removed the missiles and nuclear war was averted. We need to make Ukraine neutral (like Austria?) and invest in rebuilding it. Provide them security guarantees; let them join the EU. Just demilitarize the country. We need to keep in mind that the conflict is not only between Kiev and Putin but also within Ukraine itself between the Western and Eastern parts which do not like each other -- which is how this mess started back in 2014. Ukraine needs to become a neutral country rebuilt in peace and prosperity, friendly to both Russia and The West. Pope Francis : "Don't be ashamed to negotiate before things get worse.... It is the courage not to lead the country to suicide."
