Eduard Manet was not really an impresionist. He did no tpaint sense impresions. He painged the impressions the bourgeoisie make on people. They do their jobs. They put up with it. ~ "what drink do you want me to serve you, Sir. And the lady? You pay for it. I make it. You drink it. I clean up after you. And gooday, Sir, and the lady. No I m nt available, except maybe for a permanent position of the pay and benefits are right. I don't like working here. I hav eto do it, and to make you happy about coming here for you rdrink, Sir." I took a course from the expert on Manet, Yale Prof. George Heard Hamilton. I did not appreciate it becaue I had been childreared in a social surround with lawnmowers and hubcaps but not art.
