Now a number of years ago I saw a piece of jewelry I should have ebought but foolishly did not. It was a pin (brooch) of an open hand with a fish in its palm. This seemed to me a great symbol for welcoming sociality: a person (1) open handed, and (2) offfering another person nourishment (the fish).
